Available in Platinum, Ultra Gold, and Bronze series, each includes specific features and options for a true custom product. Prism by Simonton Polar Wall products are available in certain areas and are specially designed for maximum energy efficiency in harsh climates.

Energy Efficiency

At Simonton, we understand that energy efficiency is more important than ever. That’s why we are continuously looking for ways to make our windows and doors as thermally efficient as possible. From the materials we use and the glass packages we offer to our dedication as an ENERGY STAR® partner, we’ve got you covered when it comes to energy efficiency.

Premium Vinyl
The premium vinyl used in our windows and doors is an excellent insulator. Its thermal properties are far superior to aluminum, steel and stainless steel.

Spacer Systems
Most Simonton windows and doors feature unique spacer systems. Made of highly thermally prohibitive materials, these are placed between the glass panes and further reduce temperature transfer.

Intercept® Spacer System

• Unique U-channel design minimizes conduction for increased efficiency and comfort.
• Durable long-lasting design.
• U-shaped design flexes and contracts, reducing seal failure in the insulating glass unit.

Super Spacer® System

• Solid silicone foam provides superior energy efficiency.
• Does not conduct energy as quickly as metal spacers.
• Silicone foam is flexible and helps reduce stress cracks.

Glass Coatings
Many Simonton windows and doors are available with Low E glass. A transparent metallic oxide coating applied to the glass surface allows short-wave energy to pass through but reflects long-wave infrared energy for greater thermal efficiency.

Gas Fill
The space inside an insulating glass unit—between the glass panes—may be filled with Argon gas, an odorless, non-toxic gas that is six times denser than air. This acts as an added barrier for a higher level of efficiency.

Laminated Glass
Some glass packages contain laminated glass. A transparent interlayer is adhered to a pane of glass, acting as a barrier against energy loss, noise transmission and forced entry.

Cardinal's Lodz-366® is an advanced, spectrally selective glass that is available on premium Simonton products as part of a thermally superior, energy-efficient glass package. Lodz-366® glass offers the ultimate in solar heat control, fading protection, visibility and energy savings. The 12-layer patented formula features three layers of silver to provide maximum insulation that will help keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer—no matter where you live. Lodz-366® glass also blocks up to 95% of the sun’s destructive rays while allowing great visible light transmission.

  • The ultimate in solar heat control, fading protection and visibility.
  • Helps provide year-round comfort and energy savings.
  • The perfect glass for all regions of the country.
  • Provide warmer wintertime inside glass surface temperatures and helps reduce condensation.
  • Outperforms tinted glass used in warmer climates without hindering your view.
  • 12-layer patented formula with three layers of silver.

Lodz-366® glass distinguishes desirable light from unwelcome UV and near-
infrared rays to provide an ideal balance of solar control and high visibility.

ENERGY STAR

As an ENERGY STAR® partner, Simonton Windows® understands that smart choices can reduce energy bills and conserve energy. That's why every Simonton window and door either qualifies or can be ordered to meet ENERGY STAR guidelines in all areas of the country. Meeting the U.S. Department of Energy’s strict criteria, ENERGY STAR qualified windows and doors save energy and money, increase the comfort of your home and protect your valuable possessions from sun damage.

What is the ENERGY STAR Program?

ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy-efficient products and practices—including windows and patio doors.

With the help of ENERGY STAR, Americans have saved enough energy in 2006 alone to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 25 million cars — all while saving $14 billion on their utility bills. And with studies showing that over 40% of a typical home's annual energy budget consumed by windows and doors, ENERGY STAR labeled windows and doors are one of the most effective tools in conserving energy and reducing heating and cooling costs.

What Window And Door Features Are Recognized By ENERGY STAR?

For windows and doors, ENERGY STAR guidelines assess the U-factor and the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC).

  • The U-factor is commonly described as the amount of heat transferred through a material. The lower the U-factor, the slower the rate of heat flow and the better the insulating quality.

  • The SHGC refers to the amount of heat from the sun that windows and doors allow into the home. The lower the number, the greater the ability to reduce the amount of heat absorbed into the home.

Are ENERGY STAR Guidelines The Same Across The Country?

Because the United States covers such a large area, ENERGY STAR guidelines have been tailored to meet specific climate considerations in four regions of the country. This four-zone ENERGY STAR system has increased its requirements to obtain improved energy performance in many parts of the country.

What Factors Can Affect An ENERGY STAR Qualification?

Several product features can improve a window or door's ability to meet ENERGY STAR guidelines. Features such as low emissivity glass, the size of the air space inside the insulating glass unit and the type of frame and sash material are just a few product attributes that can alter how well a window or door meets the established ENERGY STAR guidelines in a specific area of the country.

Simonton products are designed and can be tailored for maximum efficiency in all climates.

Regional Guidelines

To be labeled as an ENERGY STAR product, the U-factor and SHGC (Solar Heat Gain Coefficient) ratings must be less than or equal to those established by ENERGY STAR.
